According to wkianswers.com, spring has officially sprung as of 11:47 p.m. on Thursday, March 16th, 2009. With spring comes warmer weather and beautiful, colorful flowers begin to bloom all over the place. Now is the perfect time to talk about the importance of color in marketing. Whether it is clothing, furniture, a website, or paint on a wall, a simple color change can liven up anything.
According to the Color Marketing Group (CMG), the top color choices for 2009 have a lot to do with what is going on in the economy, our ever changing society and our very own consumer choices. Purple, their top pick and “must have color” had a lot to do with President Barack Obama’s election. Blue and yellow take the place of Green to represent the environment and energy to “re-build the economy.” CMG also recognizes exotic colors from the Far East, with their “oranges, turquoises and teals, reds, and yellows” being “the optimistic touches we crave.” Business black is out and has been replaced by white which signifies “purity of thought, motive and result.”
Even companies like Kleenex, Cadillac, and Proctor & Gamble (the creators of Febreeze) are getting the message that colors sell. The CMG reported that colors can “increase brand recognition by up to 80 percent,” “color ads are read up to 42 percent more than similar ads in black and white” and “color can be up to 85 percent of the reason people decide to buy.”
The Decorating Diva is on the same page with the CMG in that purple is the absolute top pick for 2009. In their article “Color Trend 2009 – Purples” they chose some color combinations to pair up with purple. They chose to pair purple with gold, greens, gray/silvers, light/pastel purples with black and darker purples with white.
